Anthropomorphic Phantoms

Proton Brain Phantom

The proton brain phantom is similar to the SRS head phantom in that it has a single, small target, but it is a solid phantom and is designed to test regular fractionation deliveries for proton therapy.

The phantom is mailed with two interchangeable inserts. The imaging insert should be filled with water and can be imaged by CT or MRI and allows for treatment volume definition. The dosimetry insert contains radiochromic film and TLD and is used during the treatment of the phantom. IROC Houston uses the treatment planning information given by the institution and the data gathered with TLD and film to analyze the institution's ability to deliver the treatment that it plans.
